Good news: Dassault Systems wrote back and provided use with new 2021 SolidWorks Student Edition product keys (Thanks Mr. Baraty!). Now, after powering through this unexpected challenge, we are all ready to go for beginning modeling the cart. We both have SolidWorks downloaded to our computers. We are currently researching learning options and are gathering measurement specs for the cart, as it must fit through the back door of a Severn minibus.

We ran into sizable roadblock while trying to download the software. The product key that was originally provided to us is registered for the 2019 version of SolidWorks Student Edition, which is no longer available for download. We tried finding ways to access the old (2019) version so we can put these product codes to use, but Dassault Systems, the company who owns SolidWorks, does not provide the 2019 software any longer. SolidWorks is very pricy, so we are hoping for a renewed license. Mr. Baraty has put in a request to Dassault Systems for an updated 2021 product code so we can access software, mentioning our cart-modeling intentions and engineering goals.
We have begun the process of downloading the SolidWorks 3D design application and are just beginning our process of learning the program. We are continuing our communication with Mr. Baraty over the Slack program and are just starting our search for 3D models of the 80/20 pieces which we plan to use in our design. We soon will commence the process of educating ourselves in the program; it will be a long road from here. Below is a screenshot of SolidWorks Student edition will look with no model present. Be looking for updates of this screen capture once we download SolidWorks and begin modeling. After researching compatibility of the program, we found that SolidWorks only runs on Windows. Zach does not face an issue here as he has a desktop PC and a monitor- a perfect setup for 3D modeling. I (Nate) have a MacBook Pro computer, which is certainly capable to run the program with 16GB RAM, yet it is not directly compatible with SolidWorks. I searched for the best options from here (buying a PC is too far on the pricy side), and decided to partition my SSD to create a separate Windows boot up to my MacBook using the program BootCamp (I think it's pretty awesome). It took a good amount of time to fully figure out, but now I have perfect capability to download the software onto my computer. Since my birthday also just passed, I spent my birthday money on a nice monitor, and a dual-compatible mouse and keyboard. We both now, after some figuring out, have great setups to enact our 3D modeling pursuits.
